Ten tips for healthy eating
With so many options available we should all be eating healthy. Unfortunately that’s not the case. The multitude of options is making people very unhealthy because they are making the wrong choices when it comes to feeding themselves and their families. Prepackaged foods, microwave meals, snacks, and fast food have led millions to obesity and many more nearing the border. However, healthy eating isn’t just about getting the right number on the scales. It’s more important to have a functioning body, unclogged arteries and a heart that pumps correctly. Healthy eating is most importantly about feeling good for longer. Here are only ten tips for healthier eating. You can incorporate more, depending on your goals.
– Reduce your portion sizes. People tend to eat double what they really need. Start using a smaller plate at dinner and forget about seconds. Store leftovers immediately for the next day.
– Drink more water. Hydration is important and we should all aim to drink eight glasses of water a day. Drink a full glass of water before your meal.
– Add more vegetables to your lunch and dinner. Try to eat a cup of vegetables twice a day. Sounds like a lot but two cups is just a handful of beans, a few broccoli florets, a tomato, a few leafs of lettuce and some cucumber.
– Eat more fruit throughout the day. Instead of reaching for a candy bar when you get a sugar craving have a cup of berries, an apple or your favorite fruit. You’ll satisfy those sweet cravings and get some extra vitamins.
– Reduce or eliminate alcohol consumption. Drinking more than two standard drinks a few times a week is bad for your health.
– Only eat Beef and Pork once a month, choose lean meats such as Turkey, Chicken and Fish.
– Avoid deep fried food. Anything with too much saturated fat is bad for your health.
– Reduce your sugar intake. Sugar is our enemy and it’s poison to our bodies. Research shows that Cancer feeds on Sugar! If you really like chocolate go with the dark variety.
– Coffee or tea? Having one or two cups of coffee a day is fine but anything more could damage your health. Brew yourself a cup of green tea instead. You’ll get some antioxidants into your body and won’t have problems falling asleep at night.
– Enjoy your Food and eat slowly. Chew each mouthful of food carefully. You wont eat as much and its easier on your digestive system.
